Tried and tested ways to help you win online jobs from home

If you’ve read my post about the simple tips to get you started with working-from-home, chances are you have an idea on your first steps to launch your new career from home. The fact that you have the right preparation, to begin with, will boost your confidence as a newbie.

Let me remind you never to feel intimidated from the whole process of finding your first job online. Instead, try a different approach in reaching out to potential clients whether it be an online part-time job or full-time remote work.

Are you ready? Of course, you are!

Here are my proven ways to get online jobs:

Global Freelancing Platforms

If this is your first time to search for jobs in online job websites, you will be surprised by the options you have. You can reach out directly to companies on remote job sites like We Work Remotely, ZipRecruiter and Work Nomads or explore short-term freelance online work from the most popular freelance job sites like Upwork and Freelancer.com. Those two platforms have millions of jobs and freelancers looking to get connected with the right team. So, searching for jobs should be easy, but the competition is high.

Win Referrals

Part of the steps that I have mentioned in my tips on working-from-home was to highlight your relevant skills and work experiences because it will help strengthen your chances of getting online jobs. But you could also capitalise on these strengths to win referrals from people you have past work relationships. I know this for a fact because there were so many occasions wherein I didn’t have to look for new online projects for months because I would always get recommendations from my existing clients.

Connect with potential clients

Aside from online job websites, you could also leverage on other ways to reach potential clients without a middle man. If you play your cards well, this strategy will ensure that you could keep 100% of your earnings without the commission or membership that most job sites take from your income. But it will also require you to hustle more to increase your credibility online so you can thrive on this strategy. Just before you write a cold email or send that DM on social media channels to a potential client make sure that you have established your brand online. You can have this done by having your professional website showcasing your skills and portfolio.
