2019 Goals of a Hands on Mom

A brand new year is here so as my yearly list of new year’s resolution which I spend a huge amount of time to contemplate, plan and write. It has been my personal tradition because it gives the feeling that I am off to a fresh start, a chance to improve and an opportunity to become.

This year my determination to set the right goals and achieve them has become stronger and I thank my role of being a parent for that!

As my daughter gets older, my chance to inspire her to turn into a wonderful person is also growing. In a way, these goals will help not only to set the things that I want to achieve but at the same time, it paves the way for reflection.

Here’s my list of goals that will help in keeping things on track even on the sleepless of days in 2019. I hope it will inspire you to write yours, too.

Gratitude

2018 brought opportunities to reach my goals but since I was too focused on the wrong stuff, I allowed the negativities to steer me away from achieving most of my previous goals. So, this coming year I will see things as a chance to be thankful and an opportunity to shine.

Health

I’ve always been proud of how I was able to keep myself fit when I got pregnant. My food choices were mostly healthy while regularly doing light exercises at home to keep myself healthy. It’s time to bring that same discipline back and inspire my little one to follow in my footsteps.

Courage

I’ve had so many business ideas in the past that turned into missed opportunities only because I got too scared, if not too preoccupied to even try. I want to change that just recently I took action and moved on from the things that no longer support my goals. This year I’ll take my chance and bet on myself.

Learn

Setting too many goals while managing home and work can get any hands-on parent too exhausted to do things other than some house chores. I must admit that there were quite a lot of episodes where I was lost on what to do and how to do it right. One way to combat this is to allow a time for learning to keep my skills and knowledge relevant to what I need to function better.

Consistency

It’s one thing to know how to accomplish things but it’s another thing to make sure that we are doing them consistently. I write and produce content for a living. Most of the time I have awesome ideas for content but since I’m having problems in terms of being consistent with work, these ideas are put to waste. A few months back I heard about calendar blocking. Today, I have set schedules to accomplish work-related tasks to ensure that I will be able to do my work consistently.

Organize

The first month of the year will be the perfect time to fix my business, government and financial documents. It would bring opportunities to see how certain government benefits can support my goals and at the same time keep me on track with my tax obligations. I also look forward to sharing the information with other parents who are confused on the steps to get these important documents organised as well.

Declutter

“Removing the old to make way for the new” would be my main theme for 2019. Since this year, we moved to a new home and each transfer we let go of a few items that would no longer fit the current home, like old clothes, big furniture and appliances. But of course, I’m not limiting the decluttering concept to material things. I also thought about the people that I had to distance myself to after several events that I could no longer tolerate.

Passion

I procrastinate when it comes with pursuing my passion. Give me work-related tasks and I would concentrate on that for the rest of my life. So, when I left the corpo-life I finally had the freedom to write and document my journey. For the coming year, I’m looking forward to pursuing new hobbies and skills that I could add to my momma arsenal.

Inspire

Since my daughter came, our adventures have been my proudest momma moments. All those road trips, airplane rides, train hopping and long walks (with or without the stroller) defies the perception that going places with your little one is almost impossible. Ultimately, my goal is to explore more and try new things in the hopes of inspiring other parents like me.

So, after what you just have read, tell me, what’s on your list Momma?
