✨Winter in Japan, the quest to finding Snow🌨️

“Mom, let’s open the AC so I can get ready for the snow.”

KERIWINT

My daughter had been chanting this snowy wish for over two years in the hopes of one day finally experiencing what it’s like to make snow angels. It’s heartwarming and crazy how your little one’s dreams can be your little life goals too. So, even without having a full-time job, and just relying on my little savings and help from her Dad, we decided to make our snow-field dreams come true in Japan.

Thanks to our multiple-entry tourist visas to Japan, we found ourselves back in Japan, just a few months after my birthday celebration in the Summer. And because the decision to return for the Winter wasn’t planned, our tickets were at around 25,000 PHP each which was double its off-peak season rate.

Yeah, we weren’t exactly on a budget-friendly mission but we managed to keep the expenses low. Luckily, I was able to find good deals on Agoda. The hotel accommodation was one of the cheapest I found at 3,000 per night. But, the real wallet-drainer was prepping for the chill. The bulk of our expenses went to gearing up for the cold weather. I bought a few pieces of heat tech clothing, sweaters and gloves at Uniqlo and a discounted black coat at Zara. So, yeah traveling spontaneously could be a lot more pricey than when you have your travels planned months in advance.

But the truth is no matter how expensive your trip could get, nothing beats the experience of being in a beautiful place with your loved ones. Sure, the journey was a bit of financial workout, but the memories we made in Japan’s winter wonderland? Absolutely priceless!
