When I started my career in digital marketing, I knew only a handful of sites to apply for jobs. Today, countless websites offer a variety of work setups. You can apply for a part-time role or a full-time position. And if you are more entrepreneurial and prefer a more flexible structure, you can win a digital marketing project as a freelancer in the comforts of your home. The opportunity is endless!

As you explore digital marketing and its ever-evolving nature, be open to expanding your skills to at least two or three branches to remain competitive in the digital marketing industry. You can explore six digital marketing projects in 2023 to supercharge your career!

1. Social Media Marketing

One of the most accessible fields in digital marketing is social media marketing! You have countless online resources to develop and produce a social media marketing campaign. And social media tools these days are accessible in free and paid versions. With almost 5 billion people using social media, we can expect that this digital marketing field isn’t going away anytime soon! So, whether you are looking to be employed in the field or hoping to promote your business through social media, focus on creating engaging and interactive content that resonates with your target audience.

2. Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, is one of my favorites in digital marketing because it follows a specific process that, if done right, will produce a long-lasting benefit to your website. SEO is essential for driving organic traffic to your website, which requires a relevant topic, keyword research, and other optimization to help boost your website’s traffic in the long run. In 2023, you can also focus on creating high-quality, informative, and keyword-rich content to help your website rank higher in search results. Also, ensure that your website is mobile-friendly, as more and more people are using smartphones to access the Internet.

3. Email Marketing

You can engage with your customers more effectively with email marketing. It’s a great way to keep in touch with your customers or segment your audience by creating personalized and targeted email campaigns that deliver value to them. Consider using automation tools to segment your email list and send targeted messages to different groups of customers. Begin by creating an opt-in form on your website or including a signup form in your campaign to begin collecting targeted email lists. Use EDM tools like Klaviyo, Sendinblue, and more to create your email campaign flow.

4. Influencer Marketing

I thought about becoming an influencer at one point in 2019, and I almost did it back then when I consistently created content for the entire year. I was invited to an event for free to cover the whole event while my daughter was with me! And this year, we are planning to return to the influencer scene with better content that is both useful and fun for our small followers. But becoming an influencer is one of many opportunities out there. You can also develop and manage influencer marketing campaigns. You can work with influencers with an engaged audience who are also a good fit for your brand.

5. Content Marketing

Content marketing is a great way to attract and engage your target market. Whether or not your product is ready, producing content is an excellent strategy to generate interest in your brand. You can begin with an organic approach to educating a general audience about your product or services. This year you can focus on creating high-quality, informative, and entertaining videos to help your business stand out. You have platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram to reach different segments of your audience. I am considering short-form videos; the traffic they can generate is incredible!

6. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a great way to drive sales and reach new audiences. My strategy is to combine affiliate marketing with content marketing and promote them on social media. I’ve generated a decent income by incorporating affiliate links in my blogs and videos. This year I will be expanding to Amazon, and as soon I have enough traffic, I can apply for Shareasale to find generous affiliate partners.

Finally, I will make Web3 and AI easier to understand for Filipinos, guiding them as they navigate their way through this insane and overwhelming technology! Creating content around it to show it should be done the right way without replacing the actual “thinking process.” So, yes, I will be back to being in front of my good old Canon M50, trying to influence people to think far ahead for their future and their kid’s future because AI is here, and its now mainstream!
