Our lives are so far from what we used to have last year. But here we are trying to see every possible silver lining to keep us sane and more accepting of our new reality.
If last year we had the freedom to eat out and celebrate our birthday somewhere else, this year is just a different story. It made me appreciate those simple mall strolling, toy store hopping and bookstore trips with my daughter even more.
I won’t be surprised if I go all YOLO travelling with my daughter again next year!
But for now, we try to be creative when celebrating birthdays in the comforts of our home.
Watch the quarantine birthday
bake challenge!

Vol.33
We spent the whole day baking!
Because there’s no way we are leaving the house to celebrate my birthday, I kept myself busy in the kitchen. With my little assistant, we managed to bake our first ever cake in my favourite flavour – mocha!
With so much time in our hands, I came up with yet another activity to entertain my daughter. And as always, she’s excited to learn a few tricks in the kitchen, which I hope she remembers until she’s grown.
From getting the tools to mixing ingredients, we worked the whole day baking my birthday cake. It wasn’t anywhere perfect, but the idea that my kid is appreciating the entire process of creating something is beyond incredible!
For the first time, I didn’t see baking or cooking as a tedious task but a fun learning experience.
