Last Summer I took the family to Tokyo Disneyland to celebrate my birthday. I knew it was going to be a challenge to line up for hours in the Summer heat so I made sure to plan the whole trip well.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Tokyo Disneyland, often referred to as the “Happiest Place on Earth,” is a dream destination for Disney fans and families from around the world. And I’ve been a fan ever since, so I thought why not share the experience with my family. Tokyo Disneyland is just a short train ride from Tokyo. This magical theme park offers an enchanting experience that captures the essence of Disney, especially Tokyo Disneyland.
To ensure that you have an unforgettable visit and make the most of your time at Tokyo Disneyland, I’ve compiled a comprehensive guide filled with tips, tricks, and must-do activities.

Plan well before your Tokyo Disneyland tour
The key to making the most of your time at Tokyo Disneyland is careful planning. Start by checking the park’s operating hours, which can vary by season and day of the week. I checked Tokyo Disneyland’s website for the schedule but bought our tickets at Klook to snag discounts. However, no matter where you buy your tickets, admission dates are final. So, you really have to make sure that your schedule of visit is set.
Try to arrive as early as possible to beat the crowds and take advantage of shorter lines in the morning. You’ll be able to maximize your time at Tokyo Disneyland if you arrive early. Additionally, consider visiting on weekdays to avoid weekend crowds.

Download the Tokyo Disney Resort App
One of Tokyo Disneyland’s edge from other parks is the convenience of having an app. You can purchase tickets, check schedules, book attractions, restaurants and other experiences through the app. What I liked about the most is the wait time feature in the app. I was able to see the wait time for each attraction in real-time. You can prioritize your must-see attractions and shows and allocate your time wisely between them using the app.
Try the Disney Resort Line when going to Tokyo Disneyland
The Tokyo Disney Resort is served by its dedicated monorail system, the Disney Resort Line. This convenient mode of transportation connects the parks, hotels, and Ikspiari, a shopping and dining complex. Make the most of your time by using the monorail to navigate the resort efficiently and enjoy stunning views of the park along the way. All trains are running on schedule, starting at 6:31 am until 11:30 pm.

Get Disney’s FastPass System, like the Disney Premier Access for popular attractions at Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland offers the FastPass system, allowing you to reserve access to select attractions and shows in advance. This can save you hours of waiting in line but it will also cost additional fees. I didn’t purchase any of the FastPass because it was over the budget I set. However, if you have a little more cash to spare you can choose to purchase a FastPass for each of the most popular attractions, like the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, Splash Mountain, Pooh’s Hunny Hunt and Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek. Each Disney Premier Access costs between ¥1,500 to ¥2,500 depending on the attraction you select.
Try Japanese Cuisine or the Disney-themed snacks at Tokyo Disneyland
While you’re at Tokyo Disneyland, don’t miss the opportunity to sample some delicious Japanese cuisine. The park offers a wide variety of tasty treats, including sushi, ramen, takoyaki (octopus balls), and matcha-flavored snacks. Be adventurous with your food choices and immerse yourself in the local flavors. We tried the Disney-themed snacks at Toontown because it was the less crowded place to eat.
Experience Unique Attractions at Tokyo Disneyland
One of the highlights of Tokyo Disneyland is its exclusive attractions that you won’t find in other Disney parks. Explore the whimsical world of “Pooh’s Hunny Hunt,” the first-ever trackless ride system created by Disney or try the latest attractions like the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. These unique experiences make Tokyo Disneyland a must-visit destination for Disney enthusiasts.

Enjoy Seasonal Events at Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland hosts a variety of seasonal events throughout the year, such as Halloween and Christmas celebrations. These events bring an extra layer of magic to the park, with special decorations, parades, and exclusive merchandise. We get to experience the Baymax Summer parade during our visit. Check the event calendar and plan your visit accordingly to experience these enchanting moments.
Watch Tokyo Disneyland’s Spectacular Shows
Tokyo Disneyland is renowned for its spectacular shows and parades. “Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights” is a nighttime parade that dazzles with thousands of twinkling lights and Disney characters. Make sure to check showtimes and secure your spot early, as these performances are popular and can fill up quickly.

Explore Tokyo DisneySea
Tokyo DisneySea, located adjacent to Tokyo Disneyland, is often considered the crown jewel of Disney parks worldwide. This maritime-themed park offers an array of unique attractions and experiences, from the Venetian canals of Mediterranean Harbor to the Arabian city of Agrabah in the Arabian Coast. Be sure to allocate enough time to explore both parks thoroughly.
Shop for Exclusive Merchandise
Tokyo Disneyland offers a wide range of exclusive merchandise that you won’t find anywhere else. From limited-edition Mickey ears to character-themed clothing and collectibles, there’s something for every Disney fan. But it doesn’t have to be fancy. We bought one stuff toy for Kerrigan as small remembrance from our trip. So, take your time to browse the shops and bring home a piece of the magic.
Capture the Moments
Don’t forget to capture the magical moments of your visit with photos and videos. Tokyo Disneyland’s picturesque scenery and iconic landmarks provide countless opportunities for memorable snapshots. Whether it’s Cinderella Castle, the Arabian Coast, or the beautiful scenery of Tokyo Disneyland, you’ll want to cherish these memories for years to come.
Visiting Tokyo Disneyland is a dream come true for Disney enthusiasts, and by following these tips, you can make the most of your time at this enchanting theme park. From careful planning and efficient transportation to experiencing unique attractions and savoring Japanese cuisine, there’s a world of wonder waiting for you in Tokyo Disneyland. So, pack your bags, put on your Mickey ears, and get ready for a magical adventure like no other.
